Interactive Financial Assistance Websites
There are a range of interactive financial assistance and business support websites, providing details on all business funding opportunities available throughout Cheshire, the UK and Europe.
- Businesslink - an interactive financial assistance and business support website, providing details on all business funding opportunities available throughout Cheshire, the UK and Europe.
- Grant.net - a free to use interactive financial assistance site containing a comprehensive and up-to-date database of grants, loans and other initiatives operating in the UK, including European Commission grants, UK Government grants, Local Government grants and grants provided by corporate sponsors and charitable trusts.
- Government Funding - an interactive portal containing details on grants from the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Department of Health, the Department for Education and Skills, the Home Office and the government offices for the regions.
- J4BGrants - an interactive website containing comprehensive information on government and lottery grants for both business and voluntary groups.
- Lottery Funding - a joint website run by all Lottery funders in the UK, the site allows you to search information on current funding programmes across the UK.
- EU Funding - an interactive website that has been designed for professional users who apply for EC funds, participate in tenders and develop European contacts (company managers, university research staff, administrators).
Funding opportunities
There are a wide range of incentives available throughout Cheshire to encourage companies to locate investment projects in the county including:
- Capital Investment Grants - the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) provides capital investment grants to businesses that are undertaking investment projects, but need financial help to go ahead. Known as Selective Finance for Investment, these grants are available for projects to:
- launch a new business;
- expand/modernise/reorganise an existing business;
- upgrade a business, introducing technological or other innovative improvements;
- establish research and development facilities - NWDA website
- Economic Development Zone - 4M/EDZ is an area of Ellesmere Port where European funding has been identified to assist economic, physical and social regeneration within the corridor formed by the M53, M56, the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey. 4M/EDZ website
- Local Authority Support - some Local Authorities can provide grant support to companies which are investing in their area. This can take the form of a grant to offset either some of the property tax associated with a building or assistance with rental costs and/or building alterations. This support is usually linked to the number of jobs created.
- Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) - the Regional Development Agency plays a pivotal role in assisting companies and entrepreneurs gain access to grants and growth capital from a wide range of providers including business angels, private investors and venture capital funds. As well as the delivery of a range of financial products, the Agency evaluates investment proposals, offers guidance on sourcing finance and can groom SME’s and entrepreneurs in presentation techniques. - Prince’s Trust - the Trust offers grants for 14-30 year olds for jobs, training and group projects. The Prince's Trust also provides grants and loans to people aged 18-30, who are unemployed and have an idea for a business, but can't raise all the cash needed to start a business from anywhere else. www.princes-trust.org.uk
