Cheshire’s Creative Industries sector represents one of the fastest growing sectors in terms of activity and creative output and is a major contributor to the North West’s £7.5 billion GVA.
With almost 2,200 firms, employing 13,600 people (4% of the workforce) and an annual turnover of £650 million, the industry in Cheshire encompasses all of the key sub-sectors (advertising, architecture, crafts, design, designer fashion, film, digital and broadcast media, museums and heritage, music recording and distribution, performance publishing, visual arts and photography) and has a range of businesses from sole traders to larger companies and organisations such as: McCann Erickson, Blueleaf, Greensplash, Zarafa and Profile Communications.
Cheshire has strong links with a number of local creative industry organisations who offer industry knowledge and support to help businesses in Cheshire, to achieve growth through skills development and education.
Many colleges in Cheshire also run full and part-time courses in creative subjects and Mid Cheshire College is a nationally recognised Centre of Excellence for New Media and is part of one of the UK’s most important regions for multi media, digital photography and audiovisual technology.
