Cheshire is rapidly becoming a major location for ICT and digital companies, with the emerging high-tech corridor stretching east to west from Manchester to Liverpool running right through the county - Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Congleton and Crewe are becoming important clusters for new media and software development.
With 2,000 firms in ICT driven industries in Cheshire, employing 5,700 people and an annual GVA of nearly £300 million (projected to increase to £540 million by 2015) the sector has experienced significant growth both locally and regionally and is set to grow steadily.
Cheshire is recognised as one of the major technologically advanced counties for information technology development in the North of England, attracting a number of the world’s leading Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies including: Atos Origin Ltd, G B Group Ltd, Fujitsu Services Ltd, Siemens plc and SurfControl plc.
