About Me
I was first elected to the County Council in 1993 and I am the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on the Council - the first woman to lead any political group on the Council. I am a member of Great Boughton Parish Council and was a member of Chester City Council from 1981-1997, becoming the City’s First Lord Mayor in 1992.

I have strong links with the voluntary Sector having worked for the Chester Council for Voluntary Service before council duties took over more hours than any normal working week. I was awarded an M.B.E. for services to the community of Chester and am proud to be a Deputy Lieutenant. I am a member of the Cheshire Police Authority  and chair the Chester Police Forum.

Outside the Council I enjoy folk music, having played in a local band, The Clog and Whippet, for many years and support Chester City F.C.

I have lived all my life in Cheshire and I am married to Graham, who is a City Councillor. We have two grown-up daughters, Kirsten, a Regeneration Manager, and Ruth, a Primary School teacher.

During the daytime I can usually be contacted at County Hall on 01244 972186 or messages can be left on my home number 01244 335943.
