Tories Make ‘A Cut Too Far’, Claims Labour
Cheshire’s Labour group today (Monday) warned that the Tory Administration’s failure to provide “proper” investment in vital services would harm the most vulnerable people in Cheshire.
Group Leader Derek Bateman attacked the Tories’ refusal to allocate an extra £700,000 ease the “tremendous burden” on older people and adults who pay for social care.

County Seek Urgent Meeting With Secretary of State Over Finance ConcernsCheshire County Council want a urgent meeting with Secretary of State Hazel Blears to highlight the dire financial situation that would face two unitary councils in split Cheshire.
Members of all parties agreed to ask Labour Leader Derek Bateman to seek a meeting with the Minister - “on behalf of all the ratepayers of Cheshire.”
The move follows the publication of figures in a Government memorandum showing that the transitional costs of establishing two Unitaries had been under-estimated by approximately 50% and savings over-estimated by the same amount.
