About Me
I was first elected to Cheshire County Council in 1981 and represent Crewe North for the Labour party.  Previously I have been a Parish Councillor and County Councillor for Staffordshire.  I was the Chair of the Cheshire Education Committee for many years and serve on various school and college governing bodies.

I am currently the Chair of the Cheshire Police Authority and Deputy Leader of the Labour group on the County Council.

I have stood for the Westminster Parliament on two occasions and for the European Parliament.  I have also served on various committees of the Local Government Association and the County Council Network.

Before retiring, I was employed as a Principal Lecturer at Staffordshire Polytechnic.

I serve my ward in various ways, including Chair of “Driving Crewe Forward” and I believe in democratic local government as a means of balancing the power of central government.
