County Finance Chief Blasts Minister As ‘Last Budget’

The one-hundred-and-eighteenth and possibly last budget ever to be set by Cheshire County Council will add less than the price of two first class stamps to the average weekly household bill.

But in proposing a 3.5% council tax increase Finance Executive Member Gretta Cousins blasted the Secretary of State’s decision to split Cheshire as “mindless vandalism.“

Tribute To Honorary Alderman Humphrey Godwin

Tributes are being paid to Honorary Alderman Humphrey Godwin, a great lover of the Cheshire countryside.

Mr Godwin aged 93 who lived in Prestbury, passed away after a short illness on January 8. Funeral details have not yet been released.

He became a County Councillor in 1964 for the then Macclesfield division and was chairman of the Countryside and Recreation committee.
