I was first elected to Local Government Service in 1984. This was as a member of Church Lawton Parish Council. I served for 21 years which included six years as its Chairman. I did not stand for re-election in May 2005
I was elected to Congleton Borough Council in 1996 and remain a member being re-elected in 2006. In 2001/2002 I held the Office of Borough Mayor. At present I am the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats on the Borough Council.
I was elected to the County Council in 2005 until the term of office ends in 2009.
At present I am a Governor at Church Lawton and Rode Heath Primary Schools. I am also a Trustee at Lawton Memorial Hall.
I am married to Kathleen and have 2 sons. I have lived all my married life (44 years) in Church Lawton having crossed over the border from Stoke-on-Trent. My hobbies are walking my Border Collies, Bryn & Moss, and attending Sheep Dog trials (to watch). I have recently taken up as a further hobby making country walking sticks.
