‘Too Good To Be True’ Budget Is At Expense of Vital Services, Warn Lib Dems

Cheshire’s Conservatives are cutting vital service budgets in order to deliver a low Council Tax ahead of the May local elections, claim the Liberal Democrats.

Finance spokesman Adrian Bradley attacked the proposed 3.5% rise as “political opportunism”, claiming the Administration had delivered a five-year average increase up to 2007 of more than 5%.

No Confidence Vote ‘Just Playing Politics’ Says County Leaders

Cheshire County Opposition Councillors chose the worst day of the year to ‘play politics ‘with a vote of no confidence in the Administration’s financial management – maintained Tory Leaders today (Monday).
 
Labour and Lib Dem members took advantage of the illness of four Administration members to outvote the Tories with a joint notice of motion put down by Lib Dem Councillor Adrian Bradley.

Opposition Force ‘No Confidence ‘Vote In Tories’ Financial Management Of County

Cheshire County Council’s Opposition members have combined to force a vote of ‘no confidence’ in the Tory administration’s financial management of the Authority.

For the first time in four years the Labour and Lib Dem outvoted the Conservative administration by capitalising on the absence of four Tories during a debate on the Mid Year Performance Review.
