Work Underway On Wharton’s New Library

Demolition work is underway on Wharton library.

Cheshire Students Break Their Own GCSE Results Record

Every high school in Cheshire has achieved 30 percent or above results in A to C grades in five or more GCSEs - a year ahead of the Government’s target.

In the examinations 63.4 percent of students achieved five or more A to C grades. This figure is 1.5 percent higher than last year and 1.4 percent above the national figure.

The DCSF also published figures on the numbers of students attaining five or more GCSE results at A to C grades including English and Maths.

Reconsider Closure Of Handley Hill, Urge Labour County Councillors

Winsford County Councillors today (Tuesday) urged the Children’s Services Executive to grant a reprieve to closure-threatened Handley Hill Primary School.

Labour Members Tony Hooton (Winsford North and East) and Pam Booher (Winsford South and West) spoke in support of the school as the Executive Member considered whether to publish statutory public notices proposing its closure.
