Cheshire County Council’s Older People’s Network aims to involve older people to help improve and address the issues that really matter.
Older People's Network members meets regularly with senior managers and county councillors to influence and challenge the Council on issues such as cost of social care, travel, street audits, one stop shops and doorstep crime. For Cheshire resident Betty Wright, a member since 2001, belonging has opened up new horizons “We regularly attend council meetings, where we meet with councillors and senior managers. We also talk to older people throughout Cheshire who use County Council services, so that we can hear their views too.”
Betty took part in a short video ‘What will it be like to be old?’, produced to highlight issues which face older people such as transport, discrimination, safety in the home, sheltered housing and carers.
Why not add your voice to theirs?
There are currently 500 members, but we want a lot more. If you are retiring soon, are already retired, care for an older person and are interested in local issues then join the Network for free.
