Walkers, riders and cyclists will be able to discover the hidden places of Cheshire’s breathtaking countryside - thanks to the launch of a new Cheshire County Council website.
Called www.discovercheshire.co.uk the site uses innovative, interactive mapping to highlight a wide range of enjoyable recreational routes around the county – as well as country parks, gardens, places of interest and events.
The mapping also displays rural attractions, places to eat and drink, accommodation and other facilities within easy travelling distance of a chosen route. Maps and directions can be printed off at home for future reference, while visitors to the county can even book somewhere to stay on-line!
Packed with photography it also features a community page which enables users to publish details of favourite routes and recommended places to visit.
Discovercheshire.co.uk also complements the county’s main tourism website, www.visitchester.com, by providing the detailed information many visitors need to help them make the most of their stay in Cheshire.
It is funded and developed by the Council’s Tourism team, together with County Information, Countryside Management, Public Rights of Way and Engineering Services, as well as The Mersey Forest. Support was also provided by the local Tourism Board ‘Visit Chester and Cheshire’ and the site benefited from additional funding from Cheshire and Warrington Rural Enterprise.
