County Council Website Gains Top Ranking

Cheshire County Council’s website - www.cheshire.gov.uk - now ranks within the top five percent of the 544 local authority sites across the country.
It has gained ‘Transactional Status’ in a Better Connected 2007 report issued by the Society of Information Technology Management.
Attracting an average of 11,500 hits a day, judges described it as ‘useful, usable and used’ in a number of areas including online services, current and up-to-date information, readability and accessibility, navigation and strong links to related websites.
Services which can be accessed online include applying for council jobs or school places, reporting highway faults, renewing library books, searching a care homes directory.
Also cited were the ‘A-Z’ list of topics in alphabetical order across the top of each webpage and links to other websites such as district councils and partner organisations.
