Composting is a great way to get something for nothing, by simply adding your fruit and vegetable peelings along with tea bags, egg shells and hedge trimmings you could have great garden fertiliser - absolutely free!
BBC TV personality Philippa Forrester is a firm supporter of composting “For me it’s more than just being great food for my garden. Putting waste in your compost bin and smaller amounts of rubbish in your dustbin results in less waste having to be sent to landfill sites.”
Seen here with her two boys Philippa adds “Having children underlined to me just how important it is that we stop taking our planet for granted and all do our bit when and wherever we can. The boys love helping me home compost, they really enjoy regularly checking on our progress and can’t wait for it to be ready for them to use in the garden!”
Full details of subsidised home compost bins available to Cheshire residents are available from www.cheshire.gov.uk/waste.
