Recycling to Reduce Climate Change

Main heading

Sub-heading

Bottles and Jars for recyclingDiverting waste from landfill helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – it’s official!

Waste in landfill sites breaks down to methane gas which is 23 times more harmful to the climate than carbon dioxide!

Also, by making products from recycled materials instead of from scratch, a huge amount of energy is saved by not having to extract and process the raw materials.

  • Recycling just one glass bottle saves enough energy to power a washing machine for 10 minutes
  • Recycling just one aluminium drinks can saves enough energy to run a TV for 3 hours
  • Recycling just one plastic bottle saves enough energy to power a 60W light bulb for 6 hours

The UK’s current recycling of paper, glass, plastics, aluminium and steel saves greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to taking 3.5 million cars off the road!

Just think how much we can save if we recycle even more! (Source WRAP website)
