Crewe and Nantwich District Funding Successes

crewe cumberland arena
  • £356,554 from the Football Foundation and Landfill Tax Credit Scheme to provide sport and recreational facilities at the Cumberland Arena, Crewe.
  • £643,500 from the New Opportunities Fund to provide a broad range of healthy living activities in community venues for the residents of the 'West End' of Crewe
  • £369,348 from the National Lottery to provide therapeutic training through work experience for disadvantaged adults with learning difficulties
  • £450,000 from the Government, Crewe Alexandra Football Club and Cheshire County Council to run a 'Playing for Success' project at the football ground. The scheme uses football as the tool to raise achievement in literacy, numeracy and ICT amongst local schools.

  • Tipkinder BMX track in Crewe has been built to national standards and will be fit for training for the 2012 Olympics. The new facility, formally opened in January 2008, received funding from a number of organisations including Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council, Barclays Spaces for Sports, Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd (WREN), The Council, the Local Network Fund and Groundwork Cheshire.
