- Each District Local Authority in Cheshire has secured between £200,000 and £250,000 from the Big Lottery Fund's Children's Play programme to support a range of projects that meet with their respective Play Strategies. In Ellesmere Port, the library will host activities to help improve play experiences and opportunities for the local community.
- The Scooter Commuter Scheme hires out 27 scooters to unemployed people in disadvantaged areas of Chester, Ellesmere Port and the Wirral, to help them seek and/or attend training and employment opportunities. The Scheme is funded jointly by the North West Development Agency (NWDA), Cheshire & Warrington Economic Alliance (CWEA) and Mersey Travel.

An award of £187,603 to the Ellesmere Port Education Improvement Partnership from the Big Lottery Fund's Family Learning programme will deliver enjoyment for families through the arts. This project will be teasing out a wealth of local talent with a dynamic programme of arts-based family learning activities, including, dance, drama, photography, craft and creative writing for over 320 families in disadvantaged areas of the borough.
