School Consultations

Main heading

Sub-heading

Cheshire County Council has responsibility for the planning and provision of sufficient and appropriate school places throughout the County. In order to make changes to schools that require the publication of statutory proposals, we consult widely with interested parties, before publishing individual proposals. Consultation takes place on plans to change the way in which school places are provided, including the opening, closure or amalgamation of schools, significant enlargement, a transfer of site, the opening or closing of special needs provision, and a number of other changes.

The purpose of the consultation process is to seek the views of those with an interest in the proposed change, for example, the parents of children attending the school/s affected governors and staff, other neighbouring schools, the district and parish or town councils. Consultation is carried out by the publication and distribution of a document about  the proposed changes.
