Issues and Options

Over the last eighteen months the Council has undertaken a number of public consultation exercises involving communities and mineral operators to help identify important mineral issues and possible futures sites, as well as improve the overall level of information the Council has on mineral matters within Cheshire.

This has enabled the Council to prepare two planning documents which identify mineral issues and options for Cheshire in relation to strategic matters The Core Strategy and site specific matters Site Specific Policies and Allocations. Executive summaries of the Core Strategy and the Site Specific Policies and Allocations documents are also available as well as supporting documents which include Sustainability Appraisal, Equality Impact Assessment, Strategic Flood Risk Assessment, Technical Appendices containing detailed background information, on the issues paper topics, Site assessment criteria and an Assessment under the Habitats directive. For a CD-Rom containing all these documents please contact the Minerals Team. Paper copies can be made available by request or viewed in your library

The publication of these documents for consultation represents the first formal opportunity that you have as a stakeholder to input into the planning process and help develop future mineral policy, including the identification of future sites.

For more information please contact the minerals team.
