Where did you read yours?
To celebrate National Year of Reading, Cheshire Libraries invited people to enter our Reading in Unusual Places photographic competition. We received lots of entries showing people reading in a wide variety of places.
There were two categories: under 16s and adult. The entries were judged by our County Photographer and his team, who selected a winner from each category. It was not an easy decision to make. The standard was very high, as you can see from the winning photographs and others submitted to our online gallery.
Congratulations to our winners! Jack Bentley won the under 16s category with a picture of his sister reading in a crop circle in Avebury. He was only 11 when he took the photograph. Alan Fryer won the adult category with a picture of his wife reading underwater in Malta.

The winning entries have been turned into postcards promoting libraries and reading. These will be available from Cheshire Libraries in the near future. The winners each received a digital photo frame at a prize-giving event in Knutsford on 2nd December.
There has been a lot of support for our National Year of Reading initiatives throughout the year. We would like to thank everyone who entered the competition for their enthusiasm and creativity.
If you would like to submit your entry for inclusion in our online gallery, please email us a copy.
