| The highways scheme also involved the installation of tactile paving at the junctions of nine side roads off the High Street.
The junction at the High Street and Birch Heath has been remodelled for greater visibility.
And a bus stop has been moved and replaced with a modern facility and raised ‘bus stop’ type kerbs have been added for low level buses.
At the same time the extent of the speed limit through the village was amended and enhanced by installing new appropriate signing and road lining.
The County Council and their contractor Edmund Nuttall, Parish Council, the School, British Legion and others have worked closely on this project. Local Eddisbury County Councillor Andrew Needham, Executive member for Environment said: “The scheme has proved very popular, especially the gate.
“More parents and carers can park in the British Legion car park and then walk the short distance to school.”
British Legion Branch Secretary Ernest Butcher said: “We are only too pleased to go along with this.
“We could see the sense of the scheme, particularly for the parents and children, and have co-operated to make a much safer access to the school.”
