Cheshire Youth Choir To Take Part In World Choir Games
For the first time ever the Cheshire Youth Choir is taking part in the World Choir Games.
The 48 members between the ages of 13 and 22 travel to Graz in Austria to take part in the competition which begins on July 8th.
“I would like to wish them all the very best in a competition which involves 400 choirs from across the world” said Children’s Services Executive Member David Rowlands.
“The contest gives members a fantastic opportunity to participate in one of the biggest ever choral music events.
This is the fifth World Choir Games based around the Olympic ideal of peaceful competition, performance and celebration.
The Cheshire Youth Choir and its conductor Doctor Shirley Court will have the opportunity to perform in two additional concerts.
Rob Nash, Manager of Cheshire Music Education Partnership said: “Our Youth Choir is proud to be representing Cheshire in this prestigious event.
“Choir members will take advantage of the opportunity to meet with and hear other high quality choirs from across the world as well as taking part in the celebrations surrounding the festival.”
