City Centre Roadworks

Road works are to take place on Chester’s Grosvenor Bridge, St Martins Way flyover and an underpass beneath St Martins Way.

Over the two nights of July 1 and 2 temporary traffic signals will be on the Grosvenor Bridge with traffic down to one lane.

The work between 7pm and 10.30pm will allow bridge repairs to be carried out as well as maintenance on street lighting.

Remedial work is to be carried out to finish a scheme put in place last year on St Martins Way flyover as well as an underpass which provides access to the Princess Street car park. It begins on July 7 and should last about two weeks.

Work will be carried out off peak between 9.30am and 3.30pm or after 6.30pm if necessary between Monday and Friday. .While this is underway there will be one traffic lane open in each direction.

Highways and Transportation Executive member Eveleigh Moore-Dutton said:

“We apologise if these road works, both off peak, cause traffic delays however it is important that the work is completed.

“The Grosvenor Bridge contract is for two nights while St Martins Way is for two weeks and everything will be done to monitor traffic flows. No work on St Martins Way will be carried out at weekends.”
