Waterproof Membrane To Be Installed On Wheelock Station Bridge
Cheshire County Council is funding a project to install a waterproof membrane on the roadway of Wheelock Station Bridge, in Wheelock.
Around £90,000 will be spent on the project which includes the re-construction of the road and footways.
The exact location is where Crewe Road crosses the Wheelock Rail Trail.
Before the works can commence National Grid Gas will carry out their own preparatory works to replace an existing cast iron gas main laid across the bridge.
This work will begin on Monday July 7 and it is intended that Cheshire County Council’s own contractor Edmund Nuttall will follow on with the waterproofing contract.
The work is expected to be finished by the end of October.
Environment Executive Member Eveleigh Moore-Dutton said: “We need to carry out this work as safely and speedily as possible and would ask local people and drivers for their patience whilst these essential works are carried out.
“We will close Crewe Road to through traffic at Wheelock Station Bridge for the duration of the project. However homes and businesses on Crewe Road will still be accessible either end.
“Through traffic will be excluded and will be diverted along the A534 Wheelock By Pass.”
