Funding Package To Maintain Popular Knutsford Taxi Rider Service

Cheshire County Council has put together a funding package to maintain the popular and innovative Knutsford Taxi Rider service.

Operated by Amber Cars, the service is mainly used for shopping trips by local people across the town and rural areas and was set up using Department for Transport Start Up funding.

The shared taxi is booked in advance by ringing 01565 621222 and residents pay between £1.50 and £2 per trip.

Cheshire’s Executive Member for Highways and Transportation Eveleigh Moore-Dutton said: “I am pleased that we are able to continue with this service which has been well supported.

“We will take a further look at the opportunities this service gives its users as we carry out a review of community transport services over the coming months.”
