Kingsmead Pupils Create Huge Walking Bus For Walk To School Week
Pupils at Kingsmead Primary School in Northwich created a huge walking bus to mark Walk to School Week.
Pupils, parents, and teachers got together to play their part in a national campaign which centred on listening for sounds that children would not normally hear if they were travelling to school by car
Cheshire’s Highways and Transportation Executive Member Eveleigh Moore-Dutton said: "I hope that the pupils enjoyed listening for different sounds on their way to and from school.
"Walking buses are not only healthy and good for the environment but they also provide the opportunity to meet up with friends."
Catriona Stewart, Headteacher of Kingsmead Primary School in Northwich said: "Walking to school is always a priority here and children report on the progress made every week.
"It is something we take very seriously indeed.
"If children walk or cycle to school they get exercise and fresh air, arriving at school alert and ready to learn.
"They can have a chat with their parent or carer rather than adults being preoccupied with driving and parking a car on congested roads.
"Walking to school can affect standards and enjoyment of school as well as understanding and making a positive contribution to maintaining a healthy environment, now and in the future."
