County Council Acts Swiftly After Best Bus And Coach Of Crewe Cease Trading
Cheshire County Council acted swiftly to cover a number of local bus services and school contracts after Best Bus and Coach of Crewe unexpectedly ceased trading on Thursday afternoon.
Officers had just over an hour to rearrange transport to pick up pupils from schools and all contracts were covered.
They have also arranged for Bakerbus to operate an hourly service on two routes previously operated on a commercial service.
The services in question are the number 44 Crewe to Nantwich via Shavington and the number 45 Crewe to Nantwich via Marshfield.
"The numbers 44 and 45 began operating from Saturday May 24th and will remain in place on an emergency basis until the end of June" said Highways and Transportation Executive Member Eveleigh Moore-Dutton.
"This will give officers time to have talks with various bus operators over the long term future of these services
"A number of other coach operators helped out covering school contracts for the one and a half days up to the half term holiday and these contracts will be allocated to new operators in the next few days."
Full details of the revised timetables of the service 44 and 45 are available by contacting Cheshire Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
