Festival For Young Children Involving Theatre Companies From The Uk And Two European Countries
A new festival is taking place across Cheshire for children aged between two and six who will be able to watch theatrical events from the UK and two European countries.
Titled Kindergardens, theatre companies from Italy, Croatia and the UK will be taking part.
The professional theatre performances have been set up following collaboration between Cheshire Rural Touring Network, Shropshire and Herefordshire’s Arts Alive and Somerset’s Take Art.
Kindergardens is also part of the mini network which is a service run by Cheshire County Council’s Arts Service for early year’s children and their families.
“It is the first time that we have taken part in such collaboration and I am sure that young children will enjoy what will be a magical theatrical experience” said Community and Communications Executive Member Nora Dolphin.
“As well as the schools involved, local playgroups will also be invited to come along.
“The three companies will also be touring Shropshire, Hereford and Somerset and if the idea is a success I am sure this could lead to further visits in the future.”
Performances taking place in Cheshire are: Theatr Mala Scena from Croatia in The Parachutists Mon 2nd June Oaks Primary School, Ellesmere Port. and Greenfield’s Primary school, Winsford
Bare Toed in Bare Toed in the Garden from the UK. Thurs 12th June Wharton Primary School. and Cledford Infant School. Middlewich, Fri 13th June Rudheath Primary School, and Acton Primary School, Nantwich.
La Baracca from Italy : Cheshire early years Inset day Tues 17th June Rudheath High School for early years workers to help develop skills in using performing arts in their own teaching practice. La Baracca in Colours of Water Wed 18th June Farndon Primary School, and Tilston Primary School, Malpas. La Baracca in Feather and Stone Thurs 19th June Smallwood Primary School, Sandbach and Weavervale Primary School, Frodsham.
Kindergardens is supported by Cheshire County Council, Celebrating Cheshire’s Year of Gardens 08, Arts Council England, Esmee Fairbairn, nrtf, arts alive and take art.
