Developments At Springview, Clatterbridge Welcomed
The Joint Cheshire County Council and Metropolitan Borough of Wirral Scrutiny Committee has welcomed news that Adult and Older People’s Mental Health Inpatient Services for Wirral are to be concentrated at Springview, Clatterbridge.
The Committee oversees the work of the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP).
At its meeting the Committee heard that the refurbishment and extension to the Springview Unit is expected to be completed by October 2009 with the relocation of the existing wards from St Catherine’s Hospital following shortly afterwards.
The Chairman of the Committee Cheshire County Councillor Dorothy Flude said: “I am very pleased that significant investment by CWP and by Wirral Primary Care Trust at Springview will address current clinical issues and achieve high standards of privacy and dignity for older people with mental health problems.”
Added Wirral Borough Councillor and Vice Chairman of the Committee Ann Bridson: “Initial consultation with staff, service users and carers has revealed across the board support for the scheme.
“This should not only lead to improved service user and carer satisfaction, but also ensure appropriately trained and adequate staffing levels to provide high quality therapeutic interventions and efficient use of resources.”
