About Our Service
The County Finance Officer (Bill Tunnicliffe) is responsible for the day to day management of the affairs of the Cheshire Pension Fund including Fund investments accounting and benefits administration.
The Fund membership consists of 30,000 current employees, 17,000 pensioners and a further 13,500 ex-employees who are entitled to a deferred pension.
Pensions Section, part of Corporate Finance (led by Mark Wynn) supports the County Finance Officer in the operational delivery of these responsibilities. We provide a range of services including:
- Administering the fund for over 80 fund employers ranging from the County Council and Unitary and District Councils to Charitable Associations, Museums and Parish Councils.
- Provision of Scheme literature and member newsletters including annual benefit statements.
- Working with employers to provide pension presentations and roadshows.
- On a monthly basis we respond to over 2000 member enquiries which vary from joining the scheme, purchasing additional, pensionable service to the provision of retirement quotes and pensioner enquiries.
- We ensure the Funds compliance with the Government Regulations and Inland Revenue Rules governing the LGPS.
- Maintenance of employee and employer contributions.
- Maintenance of the Fund's statutory accounts and financial systems.
- We are responsible for the stewardship of the Fund's investment assets, including liaison with investment managers.
- Our aim is to provide an efficient, professional and helpful service for all our members and employers.
