Environmental Management

Environmental Management are responsible for improving environmental performance both within Cheshire County Council and the wider Cheshire community.

Within Cheshire County Council – Leading by Example

To improve the environmental performance of all departments within the county council a network of ECO representatives exist. Representatives meet on a quarterly basis to discuss how to progress the ‘Green’ agenda.  Over the last few years a number of internal targets have been set to help reduce the county council impact upon the environment satisfying the aims of our Environmental Policy.

Some examples of our work include;

  • Bio-diesel - The clean alternative to diesel fuel
  • Cheshire Renewable Energy Initiative
  • ECO - Information on how Cheshire County Council improves environmental performance
  • ECO Audit - Analyse your business, save costs and be more energy efficient.
  • ECO Schools - Information on sustainable developments for schools
  • Local Agenda 21
  • Purchasing – the county council is progressing a green procurement policy which will address the sustainability of goods and services procured
  • Renewable energy contract – 100% renewable for all sites
  • Sustainable Cheshire
  • Sustainable construction
  • Local Transport Plan - Strategic Environmental Assessment
  • Waste minimisation – promoting best practice through use of the three R’s - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The work of our team within the Cheshire Community operates through a number of partnerships established with other organisation.
