Monitoring
Monitoring is a key element of policy formation and service provision, at regional, county and local levels. There is an increasing emphasis on the importance of monitoring and Cheshire County Council is working with the District Councils to set in place more sophisticated systems to monitor trends in housing, retail and employment land provision.
The County Council works closely with all the Borough Councils in Cheshire collecting a wide range of data on housing, employment and retail development which is fed into the annual monitoring report. The County Council’s database systems are presently being updated in order that a wider range of information can be made available particularly about the nature of new housing development. The new Housing Land Monitoring system will be able to provide more detailed information than was previously available on a countywide basis on affordable housing, conversions, the size and tenure of development and the proportion of development which takes place on previously developed land. The Employment and Retail Database will provide detailed information on the location, size, and type of employment and retail sites.
The County Council is committed to producing an Annual Monitoring Report. Previous editions, covering the period 2000-01, and the period 2001-03 can be viewed online by using the links below. These reports cover a broad range of issues including natural environment, housing, employment, transport, retail, minerals and waste.
The latest Annual Monitoring Report covers documents from both the ‘old’ planning system; Cheshire 2011 Replacement Structure Plan; Cheshire Waste Local Plan; and also the ‘new’ planning system; the Minerals Local Plan and the Statement of Community Involvement.
