Airport Policy

General Information

Cheshire County Council Member Services support both the Manchester Airport Consultative Commitee and the Liverpool John Lennon Airport Consultative Commitee.

Environmental Issues

Manchester Airport

The Operational Area of Manchester Airport extends into Cheshire and the Cheshire Replacement Structure Plan - Cheshire 2011 and the draft Structure Plan Alteration - Cheshire 2016 contain policies to limit the impact of any future expansion on the environment. The construction and use of the Second Runway is controlled by a legal agreement which covers:

Community obligations
Noise control
Night flying
Public transport obligations

Compliance with the legal agreement is monitored by Cheshire County Council.

Liverpool Airport

Whilst the airport itself does not lie within Cheshire, the Cheshire Replacement Structure Plan - Cheshire 2011 and the draft Structure Plan Alteration - Cheshire 2016 contain policies to limit the impact of any future expansion on the environment.
