Validation of Planning Applications

Cheshire County Council have produced a suite of local validation checklists. These checklists will help developers to ensure that their planning applications contain sufficient information to enable planners and consultees to proceed to determine their application, while offering a clear and detailed requirement from the outset, with the objective of providing an efficient and effective service.

Background

The Validation Checklist is part of a new Government initiative to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the planning system. The Government is encouraging Local Planning Authorities (LPA), such as Cheshire County Council to produce ‘Local Lists’ of information requirements that must be taken into account by applicants preparing and submitting planning applications to ensure the validity of their application.

The purpose of the validation checklist is to ensure that the application contains sufficient information to enable the LPA to consult on the proposals and to proceed to determine the application.

The ‘Local List’ will be used in association with national requirements to assess whether a planning application is valid; to ensure that all the necessary information, relating to the type of development has been submitted, thus enabling the LPA to make an informed decision.

Validation of Planning Applications

Cheshire County Council’s Waste and Planning Service conducted a consultation on its Draft Local Validation Checklist Matrix. Following the consultation we have now produced a suite of validation checklists to cover a variety of different applications.
