Population Estimation
Estimates of the current population are produced each year for:
- 20 Local Areas
- 51 Electoral Divisions
- 163 District Wards
- 313 Parish and Town areas
Estimates for any geographical area within Cheshire may be available on request.

Demographic Information and Consultancy Service
In addition to the production of estimates, forecasts and reports, an information service is provided which gives information about population and housing to a wide range of officers in the county, other authorities (local and health), Learning Skill Council, businesses and members of the public.
The Unit also supports Environmental Planning, Economic Development and Engineering by providing expertise for Planning Enquiries and special analyses for bidding for funding. Expertise is also used to assist Social Services in resource allocation and Education in terms of input into the separate pupil forecasting system. The expertise is also used to help districts and the County in terms of the Electoral Review.
