MA in Creative and Critical Writing University College Chester
The Department of English at University College Chester is running a part-time, two-year MA in Creative and Critical Writing from October 2004. The MA provides the opportunity for students to create original new works of poetry and prose in a supportive context that explores the dynamic relationship between all kinds of critical and creative writing. Whilst never neglecting the pleasure of writing as an end in itself, the MA recognises the full range of varieties of professional writing. There is no practising professional poet or fiction writer who writes only poetry or fiction: poets and novelists are also reviewers, literary critics, commentators, biographers, lecturers, guest speakers, readers, script-writers, interviewers, interviewees, and writers of factual prose. Chester’s MA in Creative and Critical Writing aims to prepare its students not only to write better prose or poetry, but also to acquire the skills to use language for a range of expressive and interpretative ends.
