Lines on the Map is a project set up by the 2006 Cheshire Poet Laureate Andrew Rudd.

Andrew wishes to recruit aspiring poets from around the county to create an on-line map of the region - in poetry.  The region’s poets have been invited by Andrew to write about a place in Cheshire and email it to him - with a few sentences to introduce it - at cheshirepoetlaureate@googlemail.com.

Anyone can have a go, so get writing!

People who send poems must agree to the following:
  1. The copyright to the poem remains with the author, but allows Cheshire County Council permission to publish it on the ‘Lines on the Map’ website.
  2. Cheshire County Council reserves the right not to publish a particular poem, or to remove any material from the site without notice, but published poems will normally remain on the site for a minimum period of one month.

Please hover your mouse over the stars on the map to see the place names. When you click on a star, it will take you to a page of poems about that area.

A full list of all the poems featured is available here.
