The largest theatre in Cheshire is the Edwardian Lyceum in Crewe. The Lyceum Theatre is home to the English Touring Theatre, one of the UK's leading middle scale theatre companies.
Others include The Harlequin Theatre, Queen Street in Northwich, the Nantwich Players Theatre, Love Street, Nantwich, The Daneside Theatre, Congleton and the Knutsford Little Theatre in Queen Street.
Performances are also held in venues such as the Civic Centres in Ellesmere Port, Nantwich and Winsford, the leisure centre in Macclesfield or the Memorial Hall in Northwich.

Action Transport Theatre Company produces annual outdoor plays involving members of the local community. They perform in Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port, and Ness Gardens. For full details contact the company on 0151 357 2120.

Cheshire is also home to Cheshire Dance. The company organises professional dance performances at a number of venues in the county (including the Lyceum Theatre), and runs an extensive programme of workshops (including mother and toddler groups, youth dance and dance for elderly people) in a number of different Cheshire towns.
Amateur dramatics is a popular pastime in Cheshire with many and varied performances being held in village halls and Community Centres around the County. The "Little Theatre" Lord Street, Macclesfield is home to Macclesfield Amateur Dramatics Group (MADS) but is also used by other touring companies.
If this isn't enough then the Theatre Clwyd is within easy travelling distance from the west of the county and the theatres of Liverpool and Manchester are also nearby.
