Welcome to the Accessible Arts Tool Kit, an online guide for individuals, voluntary and community groups wanting to run accessible arts events and activities.

The key to a successful, accessible arts event or activity is thorough planning, organising and implementing. The purpose of this guide is to outline some of the major steps involved in planning creative activity, whilst looking at access issues.

What’s in the tool kit?

Helpful notes on many aspects of setting up and running an arts event or activity, including sample documents such as Event Checklists and Policies which you can download and adapt for your own use.

Get information on planning, finding & recruiting artists, programming, funding, venues, health & safety, marketing, publicity, evaluation, useful contacts and links to other useful websites.

How do I use the tool kit?

If you are new to organising arts events try browsing the sections in order.
For more experienced organisers go straight to the relevant pages you need.

Who Produced the Toolkit?

Accessible Arts Tool Kit was produced by Cheshire and Halton Disability Arts Partnership Dec 2006
The partnership includes: Cheshire County Council Art Service, CCC Social services, Chester City Council, Crewe and Nantwich Borough CouncilCongleton Borough Council, Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council, Halton Borough Council, Macclesfield Borough Council, and Vale Royal Borough Council.
