Audit of Accounts Notice of Public Rights

Notice is hereby given in accordance with the Audit Commission Act 1998 and the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2003:

The accounts of Cheshire County Council including the Cheshire Pension Fund for the year ended 31 March 2008 and all relating books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts will be available for public inspection from Thursday 3 July to Wednesday 30th July 2008 inclusive, (with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays) between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm. The accounts and other documents will be available at the offices at which they are normally kept or otherwise by arrangement. Initial applications for inspection should be made to the County Finance Officer, Cheshire County Council, County Finance Office, County Hall, Castle Drive, Chester, telephone (01244) 977355.

From Thursday 31st July 2008 at 10.00 am until completion of the audit, the external auditor will give local government electors or their representatives an opportunity to question her about the accounts. Questions may be received by the District Auditor, Ms Judith Tench of the Audit Commission at First Floor, Block 4, The Heath Business & Technical Park, The Heath, Runcorn, Cheshire, WA7 4QF. The elector or their representative may object to the accounts asking that the auditor issue a report in the public interest (under section 8 of the Audit Commission Act 1998) and/or apply to the court for a declaration that an item in the accounts is contrary to law (S17 of the Act). No objection may be made unless the auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objection and its grounds, and a copy of this notice must be sent at the same time to Cheshire County Council at the address below.
