District Council Responsibilities

Until April 2009, District Councils are responsible for collecting the Council Tax in Cheshire (on behalf of the County Council, the Police Authority, any local parishes and themselves).

Council Tax Bill Enquiries

Please note that individual enquiries relating to Council Tax bills should be addressed direct to your local District Council.

District Councils in Cheshire

There are six District Councils within the Cheshire boundary.   For full contact details and links to District Council websites, please follow this link.

Local Government Reorganisation

Please note that, from April 2009, Cheshire County Council and the six Cheshire District Councils will be replaced by two new unitary authorities, Cheshire East Council (covering Macclesfield, Congleton and Crewe & Nantwich areas) and Cheshire West and Chester Council (covering Chester, Vale Royal and Ellesmere Port & Neston areas).

Consequently, responsibility for collecting the Council Tax and dealing with individual billing queries will transfer to the two new authorities from April 2009.
