As required under the Local Government Act 2000, the Council has an approved Constitution which details:
- how the Council operates
- how decisions are made in the organisation
- the procedures which will be followed.
The Council has to show that its decision-making and the procedures which underpin it, are efficient, transparent and that it is accountable to the people of Cheshire for those decisions.
Some of the processes in the Constitution are required by law whilst others are considered by the Council to be necessary to ensure the organisation operates effectively and efficiently and in the interests of the people it represents.
As part of the Constitution, the following procedure rules are in place concerning the financial affairs of the Council:
