Opportunities for all at Cheshire Youth GamesOn the ball - Crewe Alexandra is among the county’s most successful football clubs - with Macclesfield Town FC another league team, and Chester City fighting to regain league status. Strong non-league clubs include Northwich Victoria, Winsford United and Witton Albion.

Full Tilt: British Superbike Championship at Oulton ParkFlat Out - Chester’s ancient racecourse, the Roodee, is the oldest flat racing venue in the country- and undeniably one of the most picturesque! Once the site of the city’s Roman port, this circular course is skirted by medieval walls, the Grosvenor Bridge and the River Dee.

Unbridled joy - As a rural county, point-to-point and show jump meets are regular calendar fixtures and polo too. Countless beauty spots provide perfect pony trekking pursuits.

Playing SportsWet, wet, wet - Chester’s River Dee is the annual venue for the canoeing spectacular North of England Head of the River Race on the River Dee. Several long established rowing clubs train and compete here - including the Royal Chester, Britain’s only club with Royal in its title and the Grosvenor Rowing Club. Cheshire has ample scope for windsurfing and sailing.

A straight bat - Cheshire is one of cricket’s leading Minor Counties and its premier Cheshire County Cricket League has more than 30 member clubs competing regularly through the Summer months.

On a roll - Hockey enthusiasts have a wide choice of clubs - under the umbrella of Cheshire County Hockey Association.
