Childrens Centres can be described as 'one stop shops' for young children and their families offering childcare, health and family support services from one central base.
What is a Childrens Centre?
A Children's Centre is required to deliver the following:
- child and family health services
- family support, information
- advice and guidance to support parents/carers
- specialist support for children with additional needs
- a range of activities that support parents/carers to access training and employment which include close working with Job Centre Plus
In areas of greatest need all year round childcare will be available while in more advantaged areas parent/toddler activities will be provided.
Cheshire has been divided into 45 areas, based on the population of under 5s, each of which will have a Childrens Centre by 2010.
