Health Visitors

We are the two health visitors based at Stanlaw Abbey Children’s Centre. Sarah O’Donoghue and Shelagh Browne. We visit all families who have a new baby to offer advice and support on health promotion and child development.

If you have young children pre-school age we are available to offer advice and support. We offer development screening at birth, 1 year, 2 year and 3 year. In between those times we are available on request. We also offer support to parents on a wide range of topics e.g.. depression & domestic violence. We will visit you in your home or at Stanlaw Abbey Children’s Centre.

Every Thursday between 1.30-3.30 we hold a well baby clinic and can weigh your baby and offer advice on a range of topics here at Stanlaw Abbey.

Midwifery

A full midwifery service is provided at the centre on an appointment basis

I provide an extra midwifery service for expecting and new mums and dads, including family support and smoking cessation programmes.

We run a Pampering Group for mums to-be at the Healthy Living Centre Wednesday’s 12.30—14.30pm. It is a great chill out time, you can make new friends and have all your pregnancy and labour questions answered.

MOM’s is our popular breastfeeding support group also based at the Healthy Living Centre Monday 1.30-3.30 pm. ‘Mums to be’ are also invited to come and meet other women who are breastfeeding and get some tips.
