In 2005 / 6 the Council spent in excess of £360 million on Goods, Services and Works provided by organisations of various sizes within the private sector.
The purpose of these web pages is to provide advice to prospective suppliers on how to do business with the Council explaining the method of purchasing and provide some guidance on the key factors that the Council has to consider in conducting its procurement.
We have a statutory duty to ensure that the procurement represents the most cost effective, best value for money solution.
The vast majority of expenditure is covered by formal contractual arrangements for which invitations to tender are publicly advertised.
