'Cross Country' - in partnership
Cheshire is criss-crossed by a network of cycle routes which form part of the National Cycle Network. The organisation Sustrans ( Sustainable transport ) co-ordinates the network which offers 10,000 miles of walking and cycling on traffic free paths , quiet lanes and other roads. The cycle network is designed to encourage people to use other forms of transport for work and leisure.
The Council have funded the signing and promotion of Route 71 through budget associated with the Local Transport Plan. The Road Safety Unit, which is part of the Highways Service, working with the Countryside Management Service commissioned the short film 'Cross Country'.
The Council’s Countryside Management Service is hoping that the film will reach new audiences and in doing so enthuse and encourage people to discover the Cheshire’s countryside using their bikes. The health benefits of cycling are also another important reason for making the film which will hopefully encourage people to take up cycling.
Macclesfield Company MediaFour directed, filmed and produced 'Cross Country'.
