Explore Anderton Nature Park, a wildlife haven transformed from industrial wasteland, next to the historic Victorian boat lift and close to Northwich town centre. Follow the new wildflower trail to discover rare and unusual plants, or watch free aerobatic displays over the dragonfly pond. Many of the areas around Northwich are legacies of the old salt and soda ash industries, with disused lime beds and shallow pools created by subsidence.

New - Find out all about the Story of Anderton at www.andertonstory.org.uk , a 2 year community project looking at the history of Anderton Nature Park. The Northwich Community Woodlands project creates new opportunities for people to enjoy a rich, green environment and is an integral part of The Mersey Forest. The Friends of Anderton and Marbury (FOAM) are an active group who get involved in looking after both parks. They have a busy programme of walks, talks, conservation tasks and events. Cycle Cheshire - Biking the Backroads is a gentle bike ride of 20km/13 miles around the lanes of Anderton and Great Budworth.

How to get there:

Anderton Nature Park is within easy walking and cycling distance of Northwich town centre. There are regular bus services from Northwich and Warrington, which stop outside Anderton Post Office.
