Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve offers a variety of walks, including an easy access trail through the woodland with restful views over the lake. Look out for birds and butterflies on the way, including the bright yellow brimstones.

If you're feeling energetic, why not have a go at the permanent orienteering course? Maps are available from the Rangers at a small cost.
Angling and canoeing are allowed on the lake, please contact the Rangers for details of permits.

There is an ongoing programme of artists in residence, resulting in a variety of temporary and permanent artworks around the park.
Dane Coppice Crafts Group meet here once a month to practice a variety of willow and basketry skills. Occasional courses are held for beginners, contact the Rangers on 01477 534115 or email: brereton@cheshire.gov.uk.

Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve is ideal for exploring the tranquil Dane Valley.
A Walker's Cheshire - Dane Valley is a 7km (4.5 mile) route from Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve crossing the River Dane through to Swettenham.
Cycle Cheshire - Crossroads around Congleton is a challenging 32km (20 mile) ride for casual and family cyclists around Congleton.

How to get there
By car - the park is signed off the A54 between Holmes Chapel and Congleton.
Car parking charges: Up to 1 hour 70p, 1-3 hours £1.20, over 3 hours £2.30. Blue Badge holders free. Annual permits are available, contact 01477 534115 for details.
Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve is owned by Congleton Borough Council and managed on their behalf by Cheshire County Council Countryside Management Service.
