Farndon Picnic Area is an attractive spot on the bank of the River Dee, which has been fought over from Roman times to the English Civil War.
There are interesting walks around the village and it is an ideal base to explore the surrounding countryside.
The Marches Way passes through Farndon on its way from Chester to Whitchurch and on to Cardiff, a distance of 320km/200 (mile). A guide book is available from local bookshops. |
|
Cycle Cheshire - River to Ridge is a 35km/22 mile circular bike ride from Farndon, along pleasant country lanes through Churton, Coddington and Tattenhall up to Burwardsley on the sandstone ridge. From here you can enjoy tremendous views over the Cheshire plain, before a leisurely cycle back through Tilston and Stretton.
